We, at Emmbi Industries Limited adhere to a prescribed Glass handling policy to maintain desired level of hygiene as per the BRC standard. This policy will be common to all shop floor employees of the company ensuring, everyone understand, agree and comply with them under actual operating conditions.

Glass Policy
- No glass or brittle objects shall be brought into the facility by employees and external agencies.
- No glass or brittle plastic objects shall be used in production areas, material movement paths and warehouses.
- All the glass bulbs, tube lights and light fixtures in production plant and storage area have been made shatter proof to avoid splinters from falling and thus precluding any contamination arising out of breakage.
- All the doors and windows glasses are numbered in glass register and are being monitored for good condition. Records are being maintained on the checklist.
- Use of glass bottles, tumbles, containers, thermos flasks, hand mirrors and any other non production glass material is prohibited in the production & storage area.
- Use of personnel belongings & items made of glass are not permitted inside the production and storage area.
- Electric flying insect monitors & killers have been installed ensuring that they are placed away from exposed product on a production or packaging line, so as to minimize the risk arising out of a breakage of its glass lights tubes. The light tubes of the Insectocutor is changed every 8 months basis and records are maintained.
- In the event of breakage of glass in storage, processing or packing areas, the production,packing,movement of material is immediately stopped. All products in the immediate vicinity are identified, segregated and the area at risk is isolated and cordoned off with colored tape. No unauthorised person is allowed to roam near or around that area until all broken glass has been removed.
- The broken glass pieces are collected and placed in a polythene bag and the entire cordoned area is cleaned with vacuum cleaner. Special care is taken to inspect and check that all food contact surfaces are free from glass.The waste is collected in Polythene Bags in a manner ensuring that it does not get scattered all over the factory. The glass collected in polythene bag is stored in scrap yard.
- Information about breakage of glass is given to HOD, Production Super wiser and Head of Security.
- Cleaning operations are carried out under the supervision of administration department. The tape cordoning the area is removed only after inspection and approval by HOD, Production Super wiser and Head of Security on the Glass Clearance Report. Cleaners’ shoes are inspected before leaving the area so as to preclude contamination of other areas with glass splinters.
- Broken glass is immediately replaced with new one and the respective functional Head maintains record.
